JON SHAMAH - Senior Consultant

Jon Shamah is a seasoned technical expert in digital identity, trust, and transformation, with a strong focus on dissemination and awareness. He currently serves as an expert for the European Commission on EU-Canada digital identity interoperability and is a co-founder of the Global Trust Foundation, which promotes digital awareness and identity technologies. His recent work includes advising a Gulf State on smart government strategies and contributing to the EU Digital Identity Wallet initiative. He previously chaired EEMA, a leading European forum on eID and information security, and has played key roles in several EU-funded projects such as GLASS, DE4A, and LOCARD, where he led communication, dissemination, and policy development efforts.
Shamah’s influence extends globally, having advised the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office on national eID strategies and delivered a keynote at the United Nations General Assembly for the ID2020 Alliance, where he spoke on “Identity as a Tool to Fight Child Slavery.” He has held leadership and advisory roles in numerous EU projects, including FutureTrust, LIGHTest, and STORK2.0, and contributed to international standards through the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T), where he served as Co-Chair in the Identity Management Study Group. His commercial experience spans senior roles in companies like Thales, Hitachi, and CoreStreet, focusing on e-security and digital services. With a career that bridges policy, technology, and advocacy, Shamah is a prominent figure in shaping the future of digital identity and trust frameworks across borders.
In addition to his technical and policy contributions, Jon has consistently championed collaboration across sectors and geographies. His work has facilitated cross-border interoperability, enhanced citizen-centric digital services, and influenced regulatory frameworks at ministerial levels. Through his leadership in dissemination and awareness, he has helped translate complex digital identity concepts into actionable strategies for governments, enterprises, and civil society.
